Portland is Jamaica’s greenest parish, and Scott’s River is a front-row seat. Hummingbirds work the heliconias, butterflies drift over the riverbank, and the spring keeps the water cold and clear enough to watch small fish hold their place in the current.
Our Nature Discovery Centre is how we share it: guided walks, a growing species database, school programmes and citizen science you can join during your stay.

For schools and researchers
We host school field trips, university groups and independent researchers. Tell us your curriculum focus or research question and we will build a day around it — river ecology, forest ecology, agriculture or biodiversity.
